Lites Recap:

The hole shot was grabbed by Illinois’s Cameron Lansing.  James Povolny started around fourth (I believe) with the 16 year old favorite Tyler Bowers of Yamaha of Troy around 10th.

The track was simple and very safe which lead to even more difficult passing than normal.  Watching Lansing begin to stretch out the lead Minnesota native made his move up to second place and began hunting down the Suzuki mounted Lansing.

In the meantime Bowers was regulated to slowly getting through the pack.  With the 125 east coast series on the horizon Tyler was methodical and he eventually took second.  Tyler showed maturity to ride a smart race to keep himself healthy for the east coast Supercross series.   Bowers made it up to second place where he finished.

Back to our battle up front.   Povolny caught and passed Lansing and had a comfortable lead through out the race even when he caught lappers.  Nice accomplishment for a Vet rider!

Cameron Lansing rounded out the podium with a well-deserved 3rd place.

Arenacross Recap:

Tyler Bowers wasn’t happy with a second in the Lites class and he showed the field that from the start of the Arenacross race.  Bowers holeshotted and prompted developed a sizable lead and it looked like he was cruising.   Tyler did end up on top of the box in the Arenacross class.

That savvy Vet rider James Povolny used his skill and flat out speed to nail down a second but wasn’t a serious threat to the youngster.  After James cleared traffic he rode to a second place finish with out any pressure.

The battle of the night was for third place in this class:  Scott Metz, Kevin Markwardt, 908 and Lansing.   Markwardt was faster and showed it by winning this battle.  After Kevin was locking up his third place Metz threw it away leaving Lansing the other survivor of the battle.   Like Lansing in the Lites class Kevin had a very nice ride and was quite happy on the podium.

Night two of Arenacross racing is Saturday at the Sears Center in Chicago, IL.
